SSP 134 – Mono-Motronic
Increasing awareness of environmental protection, performance, and quality places high demands on the mixture preparation and ignition systems of modern gasoline engines.
With the introduction of Mono-Motronic, a fully electronic engine management system is being offered for the first time even in the lower compact car class.
Mono-Motronic is initially used, alongside other powertrains, in the Polo with the 1.05-liter engine (33 kW) as well as in the Audi 80 and Passat with the 1.8-liter engine (66 kW).
In contrast to the well-known single-point injection system Mono-Jetronic, Mono-Motronic is additionally characterized by electronic ignition control and an expanded self-diagnosis capability.
Distinguishing features of Mono-Motronic compared with Mono-Jetronic are a distributor without a mechanical advance mechanism and a 35-pin control unit.
