The turbo spark-ignition engine of the new “Audi 200 Turbo” represents state-of-the-art technology through a combination of several measures:

  • 5-cylinder spark-ignition engine with 8.8:1 compression ratio

  • K-Jetronic fuel injection system

  • Intercooling (Charge air cooling)

  • Exhaust gas turbocharger

  • Fully electronic ignition with knock control

  • Overrun fuel cutoff

  • Idle air control (Idle charge regulation)

  • Air-shrouded fuel injectors

  • Lowered idle speed

All of these added technologies were utilized partly to increase performance, but predominantly to reduce fuel consumption and decrease pollutants in the exhaust gas.
