SSP 041 – Automatic Transmission for Diesel Engines
INDEX
The transmission is not a new development. The proven automatic transmission has been enhanced with a useful additional feature.
In the additional selector lever position “E”, the power flow between the engine and the final drive is automatically interrupted as soon as the driver releases the accelerator pedal.
This means:
No “creeping” of the vehicle when stationary
“Freewheeling” during overrun (coasting) operation
Fuel savings
Due to the governing characteristics of the injection pump, more fuel is injected when, with a drive range engaged, the idle speed drops.
This results in increased fuel consumption.
The selector lever position “E” eliminates this disadvantage.
