SSP 041 – Automatic Transmission for Diesel Engines

INDEX

The transmission is not a new development. The proven automatic transmission has been enhanced with a useful additional feature.

  • In the additional selector lever position “E”, the power flow between the engine and the final drive is automatically interrupted as soon as the driver releases the accelerator pedal.

This means:

  • No “creeping” of the vehicle when stationary

  • “Freewheeling” during overrun (coasting) operation

  • Fuel savings

Due to the governing characteristics of the injection pump, more fuel is injected when, with a drive range engaged, the idle speed drops.
This results in increased fuel consumption.

The selector lever position “E” eliminates this disadvantage.
