SSP 029 – CAV Distributor Injection Pump
INDEX
The CAV distributor injection pump is an alternative to the Bosch version used in the Golf Diesel engine. It features several distinct technical characteristics designed for efficiency and reliability:
Automatic Fuel Enrichment: Acts as a starting aid by increasing the fuel delivery volume during the cranking phase.
Manual Cold Start Aid: Allows for the manual adjustment of the injection timing and an increase in idle speed to stabilize the engine when cold.
Hydraulic Governor: Controls the idle speed and acts as a safety limiter for the maximum engine RPM.
Load-Dependent Timing Advance: Automatically adjusts the injection timing even under light engine loads to ensure optimal combustion.
Bleeder Valve with Return Line: Integrated system for bleeding air from the fuel lines, ensuring the pump remains primed.
Electromagnetic Shut-off Valve: A solenoid that cuts off the fuel supply to shut down the engine (since diesels do not have an ignition spark to turn off).
