Audi A3 (8P) – Facelift rear lights (retrofit) (Coding)

Purpose: Allows you to activate the LED Facelift rear lights for Audi A3 8P Sportback (5 doors) after replacing the phase 1 halogen lights with LED facelift (retrofit).

Proceed:
1 – With the engine off and the ignition off, connect your official VAG-COM VCDS cable to the computer and then connect the other end to the diagnostic socket of your vehicle.

2 – Switch on the ignition and then start the VCDS program.

Line 1:

3 – Click on “  Select  ” then click on “  09- Power station ”.

4 – Click on “  Coding 07 ”.

5 – Select module “0” and click on “Long coding assistant”:

  • Byte 09 of HEX 00
  • Byte 10 of HEX 00
  • Byte 12 of HEX 36
  • Byte 19 6th binary digit at 0
  • Byte 21 Binary 4th digit at 1 (option see description)

Description:

  • Byte 09 disables the brake light dimming as a tail light. (So only the LED strip lights up when the parking lights and dipped beam are on)
  • Byte 12 allows to adjust exactly the brightness of the LED strip of the exterior lights to that of the interior lights (at least if a Kufatec adapter is installed with a 100 ohm resistor)
  • Byte 19 causes the cold diagnostics of the parking lights to be disabled. This means that the LED strip does not flash when the ignition is switched on.
  • Byte 21 means that the rear fog lights are also activated when braking (so this is purely visual, you have to decide for yourself whether this is important to you!)
