Audi A1 (GB) – Deactivate/activate the electric handbrake for a trim change (Coding)
Purpose: Allows you to deactivate/activate the electric handbrake in maintenance mode in order to be able to change the rear brake linings. (Lining change mode)
Proceed:
1 – Engine off, ignition off, connect your official VAG-COM VCDS cable to the computer then connect the other end to the diagnostic socket of your vehicle.
2 – Switch on the ignition then launch the VCDS program.
To begin, put the gear lever in P and remove the electric handbrake on the button. Check that there are no faults/errors before starting the basic setting.
3 – Click on “ Select ” then click on “ 03 – ABS Brake ”.
4 – Click on “ Basic setting – 04 ”.
5 – On this page, at the very top, there is a drop-down menu.
In this drop-down menu, choose “ Start lining change mode. “
6 – Click on “ Go ”.
A fault message will appear on your OBD indicating ” Parking Brake Fault ” but this is normal and you should ignore it
7 – Wait for the display ” Procedure complete ”
8 – Once finished, return until the program closes
9 – Switch off the vehicle ignition then disconnect the VAG-COM cable
10 – Change the linings on each side!
To reactivate the electric handbrake:
11 – With the engine off and the ignition off, connect your official VAG-COM VCDS cable to the computer and then connect the other end to the diagnostic socket of your vehicle.
12 – Switch on the ignition and then launch the VCDS program.
13 – Click on “ Select ” then click on “ 03 – ABS brake ”.
14 – Click on “ Basic setting – 04 ”.
15 – On this page, at the very top, there is a drop-down menu.
In this drop-down menu, choose “ End the lining change mode ” .
16 – Click on “ Go ”.
17 – Wait for the display to show “ Procedure completed ”.
